If your ebike's acting up, the odds are 60% it's the battery, 25% the motor/controller, and 15% accessories or wiring. This site walks you through each in that order.
Step 1 — Diagnose where it's failing
Ebike problems cluster into categories. Figure out which category first:
🔴 Battery issues
Won't charge, range dropping, fault codes. 60% of problems.
🟠 Motor / drive
Cuts out mid-ride, throttle dead, pedal assist won't engage.
🟡 Controller / display
Error codes, blank display, communication faults.
🔵 Accessories
Lights dead, lock stuck, bag problems. Not mechanical-critical but frustrating.
Step 2 — Read the fix flow
Every troubleshooting page uses the same structure:
- The exact problem in plain English
- The 2–4 most likely causes in frequency order
- A step-by-step fix flow, simplest first
- Brand-specific tips for Rad Power, Aventon, Lectric, Heybike
- Product picks if the fix requires gear
- FAQ
Stop at the step that solves it.
Step 3 — If nothing works, it's wiring or a dealer job
Some ebike issues need the manufacturer's warranty or a local shop:
- Motor cut-out with no error code — could be internal motor damage
- Controller error codes — some codes indicate factory defect
- Battery BMS faults in warranty period — always contact manufacturer first
