No — and we say so plainly. We research ebikes against rider community data (Reddit, forums, owner reports), manufacturer specs, and direct-experience write-ups. Where we have hands-on experience with a specific ebike, we say so. Where we don't, we're upfront that we're synthesising community knowledge.

Why doesn't Rad Power or Aventon appear in your Amazon picks?
Many flagship ebike brands (Rad Power, Aventon premium line, Lectric) sell direct-to-consumer and aren't available on Amazon. We mention them in context but can't affiliate-link them. For those brands, go direct to the manufacturer. Amazon-available ebike brands include Heybike, Ancheer, Lectric XP line (intermittent), and many conversion kits (Bafang).

My ebike just stopped working — where do I start?
Start with the battery hub. 60% of "dead ebike" problems are battery issues — charger, cell balance, BMS. If battery checks out, move to motor and controller.
I have a conversion kit, not a branded ebike. Still useful?
Yes — Bafang BBS and hub conversion kits use the same controller and battery architecture as most Chinese-made branded ebikes. Most troubleshooting applies. Conversion-specific issues (sensor cable routing, bottom bracket tightness) are covered in the motor hub.
Technical questions
How do I tell if my battery is dying vs just discharged?
Plug it in with a multimeter attached. A healthy battery drops well under voltage initially, then climbs as cells rebalance. A dying battery either won't accept charge, trips its BMS, or shows voltage sag under load despite being "fully charged." See range dropping diagnostic flow.
Is it worth upgrading the battery to a bigger one?
Sometimes. Factors: battery must match your ebike's voltage (a 36V ebike won't take a 48V pack), the BMS must support your controller's amp draw, and physical fit matters. Check our battery hub for compatibility flow.
What's the most important accessory for a new ebike owner?
