If you own a Lectric Ebikes and something's gone wrong, the fix is almost always one of six common problems. Each has a Lectric-specific diagnostic path below — plus the gear that actually solves it.
Your Lectric Ebikes at a glance
- Battery voltage: 48V
- Motor type: geared hub
- Controller: Lectric proprietary
- Typical range: 25-50 miles
Folding ebike specialist. XP 3.0 and Xpedition most common. Folding-hinge wear is the unique failure pattern.
Common problems — by frequency
Walk through these in order. Lectric-specific tips under each.
1. Battery won't charge
The #1 cause across every ebike. On Lectric specifically: Lectric folders run stock 48V chargers. If the pack's below 10% and won't wake, BMS has tripped — pulse-charge for 60 seconds usually revives it.

2. Range suddenly dropped
Lectric XP 3.0 batteries lose 15-20% in year one. Store at 50-80% when not using — never leave at 100% or 0%.
3. Motor cuts out mid-ride
Geared hub motors like the Lectric's can overheat on long hills. Cool-down window is usually 5-10 minutes. Also check motor phase connector — vibration works it loose.
4. Display error codes
Lectric follows the KT-LCD3 code family. Err 03 = hall sensor, Err 06 = low voltage, Err 21 = controller comms.
5. Throttle not responding
UK Class 1 pedelecs (most Lectrics sold in UK) restrict throttle to walk-assist (6 km/h). If throttle worked before and doesn't now, hold + button for 10 seconds to enter PAS menu, toggle throttle mode.
6. Pedal assist won't engage
Lectric cadence PAS: check the 12-magnet ring sits 2-3mm from sensor. Ring can slide on the spindle with wear.

- DeoxIT-grade cleaner
- Silicone dielectric grease
Lectric maintenance schedule
- Every ride: Visual check on tyres, brakes, and connector security at the motor cable.
- Weekly: Charge port + all display connectors cleaned with contact cleaner. Tyre pressures checked.
- Monthly: Cell voltage check under load (multimeter). Battery cycle count logged. Chain/belt check.
- Every 6 months: Full BMS calibration cycle (drain + full charge). Brake pad inspection.
- Yearly: Hub motor inspection (hub-drive brands). Controller connector re-greasing. Firmware update check.
